Beautiful word, ‘shenanigans’
#oh-kay. uninspired word vomit of the day. this is what breaks my heart about Eleven. this is why he makes me hurt so much more than nine or ten. Look at what’s happening behind him. Amy, Amelia Pond, his little Amelia. The Girl Who Waited. His good friend is in pain. She’s afraid, more afraid than she’s ever been before. She’s utterly helpless and Eleven doesn’t know what to do in order to help. You know how I can tell? When he starts talking about something silly like how interesting the word ~shenanigans~ is. He tries to hide his own pain and confusion by acting out like a 9 year old. He thinks laughing at the dark will somehow make it go away. Or maybe it helps him cope with the fact that THIS IS AMY. AMY IS IN DANGER. She is all alone somewhere. Again. And it’s his fault. Again. And he feels like he’s been the worst possible friend to little Amelia. The Girl Who Waited. The girl who sees him as her best friend. And I can’t even begin to imagine what it must feel like to be THE DOCTOR. THE ONCOMING STORM. Just talking about the beauty of the word ~shenanigans~ when you can see all over his face that he can’t turn around. He’s dreading the moment when he reveals to her that she hasn’t been Amelia Pond in a long time. And he would rather spend all eternity acting like a 9 year old than admit any of this to himself or those around him. This is our Doctor. And he’s in pain again over one of his beloved companions.#doctor who
